San Pedro Square Market just opened back up again on May 18th! This pandemic has created great hardships and challenges for all of us. We are very glad to offer online pick up or delivery during re-opening Phase I. Ci vediamo presto!

NEAPOLITAN STYLE PIZZA
Thin crust, Neapolitan-style pizza is a style in it's own right! Unlike it's thin crust, crispy NY-style counterpart, this pizza is almost "drinkable". The fresh mozzarella cheese, tomotato sauce, other freshly prepared toppings, plus extra virgin olive oil, make for a scrumptious pie.

Our wood burning oven from Naples, which generates a 900 Fahrenheit temperature, creates that characteristic char on the soft, chewy crust. We flash bake our pizza's in about 90 seconds. This creates a higher moist content on the pizza. The fresh flavors which will burst in your mouth are oh so good! But make sure you have some napkins handy, as things can get messy!

The amount of toppings we use is sparse; the thin crust is very fragile before it's baked. You can always ask for extra free basil. We use only the finest ingredients. We crush the San Marzano tomato sauce, and prepare most of the other toppings and the dough, with the highly touted 00 flour, on site.

Our hand made personal size pizzas are about 12 inch in diameter. Order a Lunch Special on Monday - Friday between 11am - 2pm and you will receive a half pizza of your choice, paired with half an insalata. The insalata consists of arugula, tossed with balsamic vinegar, gorgonzola and pear. We can substitute the cheese if you like. We have vegetarian, meat and vegan pizza options.

ORDER THE PIZZA
During this time you can order online and choose to either pick your pizza up, or have it delivered through our third party delivery service. We more information on this on our Location page.

We will always provide complementary parmesan cheese and red chili flakes if you want it. Buon Appetito!

HISTORY
The story behind Pizza Bocca Lupo is about coming full circle. The owner of Pizza Bocca Lupo has a deep-seated passion for Naples, it's people, the language, it's sweeping views and rich culture, and of course, the Pizza Napoletana*! He is a former electrical engineer, who was born in Naples, Italy. He lived there during his early childhood.

Every summer vacation he went back to Napels. His favorite go-to food, you guessed it, was the Neapolitans´ favorite thin crust take out food.

Prior to the opening of Pizza Bocca Lupo, he became an apprentice at an Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana - Certified pizzeria in Naples.

Once he broke the news to his childhood friends in Naples, that he was going to open up a Neapolitan pizza place, they went wild and all said: "IN BOCCA AL LUPO!!"

Ultimately his kids picked the name for his restaurant, out of four options.

SAN PEDRO SQUARE MARKET
He signed the lease at San Pedro Square Market in 2011 with nothing but a vision; both San Pedro Square Market buildings were bare structures, one of them a historic former industrial bakery. His kids loved playing in the piles of rubble.

Mid-September 2011 San Pedro Square Market, San Jose's first urban market, opened. Pizza Bocca Lupo, Vino Vino, Crewners (now Barber Bar), The Veggie Box (now Market Beer Company) and the Market Bar were the first vendors. * Naples is the city where the Pizza Margherita was invented, back in 1889.
